What is the ADA

Updated: Jul 30, 2023

ADA stands for the Americans with Disabilities Act, which became law in 1990. The ADA is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private places that are open to the general public. The ADA is divided into five titles (or sections) that relate to different areas of public life.

Title I (Employment) Title II (State and Local Government) Title III (Public Accommodations) Title IV (Telecommunications) Title V (Miscellaneous Provisions)

The ADA is the most commonly known law pertaining to Service Animal information. However, it says very little about ESAs. However, with so much ESA and Service Animal misinformation out there; being familiar with the ADA laws can still be helpful to those dealing with fake Assistance Animals of any kind.
