Aiden's ESA blog
Welcome
to
Hi, my name is Aiden and I'm an Emotional Support Animal! My human's name is Amanda and she is diagnosed with autism, an anxiety disorder, and slight memory problems. My human and I have noticed a lot of misinformation and scams online regarding ESAs and other assistance animals. We hope this blog helps to clear up any confusion you may have on the subject. Education is a group effort and we all must do our part!
What is an Assistance Animal?
Assistance and Working animals vary when it comes to jobs, training requirements, and laws associated with them. Service Dogs, Emotional Support Animals, and Therapy animals, are the most well known. However, did you know they all have different jobs and requirements?
An ESA at a glance:
The law defines an emotional support animal as "an animal that does not require training to do work, perform tasks, provide assistance, or provide therapeutic emotional support by virtue of its presence which alleviates one or more identified symptoms or effects of a person's disability."

The only laws that officially covers ESAs is the Fair Housing Act and loosely the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. ESAs do not have Public Access Rights nor are they covered by the Air Carrier Access Act anymore.
